Cleaning rod for CZ 455

Post by chuck d »

My new 455 does not like my .22 Dewy or SS rods. What do you all use to clean these rifles?
What size patches?

Thanks

How could a rifle not "like" a cleaning rod? Is it a 22 cal rod or a HP rod?

Use a jag and a small patch. About 1 inch sq.

CZ bores are a little undersized sometimes so a pull through line might working better:
Patchworm at Midway

With these patches:
Brownells #3 Flannel Patches

The Patchworm comes with different size beads for different calibers - just set those aside and use the line as is. Replace the line when it starts getting whiskers or it could break at an inconvenient time.

Weed eater line with a knot tied on one end and the other but pointed, thread patch and pull from breech to muzzle.

The 452 I had was almost .20 even at the muzzle.... very tight.

I use a 3/16 hardwood dowel to push my patches through. Been doing it for decades. I don't belive you need to scrub the cr@p out of the bore after each shoot.

They're cheap,
Doesn't scratch the bore nor crown,
easy to find (big box HW stores),

What's not to like?

And BTW, I shoot a CZ-452
