SPF Leupold 12x Fixed Golden Ring Scopes

Post by SMiDSr »

Two used fixed power scopes with target turrets. Very good condition with just a hint of ring marks on the tubes. Also, both scopes were sent to Leupold for a check over and installation of a silhouette appropriate size .0060” dot (Chicken George’s Spec) and have not been installed or used since their return. These are lifetime warranty golden ring scopes. $US350each with shipping to the lower 48. $650 for both.

Who can tell me how big a .0060 Chicken George dot actually appears when viewing? I have Leupold 25 X's with factory 3/8th dot for reference.

Honestly, not being a smart arse....

The Burris and Leupolds with 1/2" dots that I have, the dot will cover a 1/2" sticker on a target at 100 yards. They appear about twice as large as
a 3/8" dot.

Hope that helps....

Bob, To be sure, I just called Leupold and was told this dot covers 1.048" at 100yds. Thanks for your interest.

Bob,

I have a Leupold 6.5 x 20 EFR and a 6.5x20 Long range with the dot in question and I would say it is arround 1/2MOA.

I know you love those 12x, you should add them to your collection. LOL

Bob I saw the orgional poster statement that they cover over 1" at 100. Like I said I have two and know they are not that big. At the chicken line it just covers a 22 bullet hole so to me that is 1/2MOA.

Bob Sorry, I should add that 1.048" at 100yds applies with the fixed 12x power scope. For example, if the power were higher this dot would subtend less. For reference, I had bought a Chicken George 6.5x20EFR and at 20x power the 0.0060" dot subtends about 1/2" at 100yds. Thanks again.

Paul, thanks we must have been typing at about the same time. Yes, I agree we are saying the same thing.

For reference, I picked these scopes up used and they were intended for my 2 boys and so I just had Leupold copy what Chicken George used. In the end, the boys took up trap shooting and so the scopes are being offered for sale.

Thanks again.
