HP Rifle for Sale- Rifle is Sold.

Post by Jim Beckley »

Remington 700 Short Action (trued), McMillan Thumbhole Stock, bedded, chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua, Jewell BR Trigger, has a Krieger Rem Varmit tapered barrel that has been fluted to make weight. Also comes with a new in box #5 1/2 tapered Kreiger barrel. This rifle will shoot in its current configuration. I have shot 10 chickens, 10 pigs and 10 rams, 9 turkeys as recent as the Missouri Regional in August. The only issue with this rifle, is before I had it fluted, I removed the recoil pad to make weight, then glued it back on after it was tapered. Also comes with a Weaver 24x scope, 1/4 clicks, 5/16ths in dot. 1600.00 firm. Best way to contact me is call or text me at 480-415-4342. I wil ship to your FFL.

Since the stock is thumbhole configuration, it will only shoot in "Standard" rifle class, not Hunter, right?
If I had a different stock, would it make weight and trigger weight for Hunter class?

Would LOVE to get into the HP side of the sport! Gotta spend your money on something, right?

Yes the way it is now it is Standard. It was in a McMillan Anchutz stock without the thumbhole before this one. When I put it in this stock it was alittle bit heavier thus the fluted barrel.

My guess is that you would have to install a different stock and the 5-1/2 taper barrel Jim has with the package to even come close to hunter weight. I have a 6.5 x 55 with a 5-1/2 taper Hart barrel in a Pharr RT stock and had to use shoe sole for a recoil pad to make weight. And that was with a scope that was a least 2 oz lighter than the T24 on top of this rifle.

JB, I have seen you lay down a lot of steel with that rifle. The new owner has a nice gun.

McAlice, At the Mo match this year you told me that I need 10 turkeys, I hit 9 and you were all pissy because they were not all center hits!

I was not getting all pissy. Yeah, I called a couple of them sloppy hits but I was simply trying to "encourage" you to do your best. It was that single miss six inches over the head when I got pissed at you.
