Pretty quiet on the board. I know some great shooters were up there.

It was hot as usual but without the terrible winds or rain we have come to expect at Raton. I was surprised that the clay shale berms are either decomposing from the sun or from bullet impacts making spotting misses easier, to bad there not 5' behind the targets instead of 25'. In general the match went very well with just a few little problems like the loudspeaker system going out several times, and a minor misunderstanding about the lunchbreak/sight-in period on the first day.
The Colorado group had 3 new people this year and they seemed to be enjoying themselves, I know I had a great time in spite of turning in some crappy scores until the last day.

Not sure where it will be next year except that it won't be N.M., people that follow it closer than I would have an idea. Seems like every 3rd or 4th year it's in Pennsylvania followed by Raton the next year.

I was one of the new shooters from CO, that Kevin referred to, it was my first Nationals, I have been shooting Silhouette for almost a year now.
Even though I did not shoot well the first couple of days I had a blast.
It was just fun being there and seeing all the other shooters, some of the ones that you read or hear about and finally get to see them shoot and talk to them.
The other shooters were always ready to help if any help was needed.
There were a few hickups as Kevin mentioned.

One thing I'll bitch about is that the rifle racks are in awful shape, the wood is broken off between the barrel slots making it possible for the rifles to fall over if someone is careless.
They should rebuild them with sun/rain covers over the top but I'm not optomistic about that happening since the range is used so seldom, still it needs to be done.

that' true I noticed that on some of the racks they need some new wood and a little deeper cut for the barrel would be nice, and I also wish that they were out of the direct sun.

It was hot for the SB but wind wasn't much of a problem.

It really wasn't that hot.

It was actually quite comfortable. Heck I was wearing long sleeved shirts the whole time!

Talked to some of the guys down in N.M. today and they said the afternoon wind and rain is back in full force for the highpower matches.
