Estimate of weight for 1712 bbl/action in RT/S stock?

Post by Jetmugg »

I have a factory 1712 barreled action in a Pharr RT/S stock with Pharr bottom metal. It has one of the lightweight butt pads. No additional weight has been added to the stock.

I have never weighed the rifle directly, I only know that it's under the allowable limit for Hunter class with a T-24, BKL rings, and risers.

I realize that the weight will vary slightly between individual rifles, but has anyone weighed a 1712 barreled action in an RTS stock with aluminum bottom metal (no scope or rings).

Any educated guesses?

Thanks,

Steve M.

I have the 1712 FWT and it weighs right around one pound under 8.5 with BKLs single straps and a 22 ounce Bushnell 4200 on it. So if I had to take a guess I would say naked it probably weighs around 6-6.25 lbs roughly. I need to add some weights to mine and get it up closer to the limit.

If it has the original barrel its quite a bit under the 8.5lbs even with scope. My setup before I added lead shot weighed I think 7lbs 10ozs??? Might be slightly off with that but not by more than a couple ounces.

I had the 1712 (factory barrel), RTS stock, and BKL riser blocks weighed today. 6.60 lbs if anyone else is interested.
