Fun Gun or a Plinker

Post by Jim Beckley »

I have a Remington Nylon 66, that is just fun to shoot. When I go to the range I usually take it along and have a good time just punching paper. Most of the time I will have someone come over to where I'm at and they will say hey that's a Nylon 66, I had one of those when I was a kid.

They are cool rifles. I'd pick one up myself if they weren't always over priced.

Your right Trent, sorry I ever got rid of mine and when you do find one they are way more then what I want to spend on one.

How much are the Remington Nylon 66 rifles selling for now a days? I picked up one at a local gun shop for $100 not to long ago but it had missing front and rear sights.

I picked mine up on Gun Broker for about 300 with shipping a everything else. From what I understand you could hardly give one away and then the NRA ran an article in the American Rifleman about them and the prices went through the roof. If you google Remington Nylon 66 up it will take you to that article. I had a 77 at one time, which was the same rifle but with a clip, it never did feed right, so I took it to a gunsmith, and after a period of time and moves, and changed phone numbers, the place went out of business, so I don't know what happened to the gun.

Jim, I bought two one of those clip fed rifles back in the early 70's and I still have one of them. Don't use it much any more but I don't remember having any kind of trouble with it.
