"Frosty Iron Match" Beloit Rifle Club

We had our first 2012 match today in 24F, 4 inches of snow, and 25mph wind gusts with 1 inch fresh snow this morning. This is an annual event and had 6 participants. We had a tie breaker for match winner.......18/40. Too Funny! We normally have 10-12 participants for our first annual match and new classification books for purchase. My 14/40, guess I can't complain. We did have 2 participants with one driving almost 2 hours and the other 1-1/2 hours. It was very nice to see them. We had pizza afterwords with loads of laughs! You just never know how many will show up. Our season officially begins first week of May with weekly indoor paper practice once a week, in the mean time. How can we entice those in the southern half to come join us!?

I remember shooting at BRC in a couple of those matches when I lived in Sheboygan, about 10 years ago. The temperature was hovering around 5 degrees F. and some folks would make funny comments of the bundled-up Mexican wearing the big mad bomber fur hat, but for this desert rat, staying warm was priority no. 1. I do miss shooting in that beautiful range. Please say hi to Bill Larson.

Joaquin, Bill Larson retired 3 years ago and moved up to Superior, as far north as can be. I received confirmation from the range they will be shooting that Bill is in fact starting up SB Silhouette. Bill is not an email/electronic person. I took a good guess as to the range he is working with to get the silhouette range set up. Bill returns to our area for a couple visits each year. One of our members is a close friend of his and I get updated info from him. He is very active with the "Friends of the NRA" too, and comes down here for the local dinner and auction each year. I am currently at the Vegas Terminal heading back home and will send you a personal msg with his e-mail and will get his phone# tomorrow. I will pass along to our member you for him to say hello to Bill. We really miss him too, as a great ambassador for our sport. Nice you wrote. If you visit our website, and go to our Silhouette discipline page, there are many pictures from the past 2 years. You might recognize Larry and Dennis as they have been around for a long time. Mexican garb would be welcome site!! Our state match is in my signature and you are welcome.
