T24 v. Sightron SIIB 6-24x42 D

Post by coopdog »

The shooting I do is somewhere between Silhouette and Benchrest. A lot of 100 yard prone matches. I have an Anschutz 1517 MP R. I am deciding between these two scopes. Both have 1/8 clicks and fine crosshairs with Target dots. Putting aside price, would the Weaver T24 have any advantage over the Sightron?

Because I am not that steady[wobbly] in off hand, I have the Sightron Silhouette scope with AO. I set at 10X for chickens and move up accordingly to Rams at 24X. Also, the parallax is good down to 50 feet for indoor paper practice. Hope this helps.

I've used each for silhouette. For me there is no substantial advantage of one over the other.
For prone the variable will allow the novice shooter to "dial down" to reduce the magnified wobble. I guess the same can be said for novice silhouette shooters.
I like 10-16X best for prone with fine crosshairs.
If you like the glass on the Weaver better and can handle the limits of fixed power then go for it, otherwise I'd pick the variable.

The Sightron will give you variable magnification for whatever that's worth for your shooting.
