Expensvie 54MS but worth it

Post by bhoges17 »

My buddy shot my Anschutz 54MS last week and right away he fell in love and wanted one bad. Went on Gunbroker and we found one. In the end he paid $1950 for it w/o optics. I thought it was way overpriced but he didn't care. I got the rifle this week and was amazed at the condition. It was 99% not a mark on it. The trigger didnt work due to the oils becoming solid over the years. The rifle was barely shot and put away. I scoped the bore and it was perfect. Once the trigger as soaked it came back to life. Im just waiting on the scope and he is ready to go. Ill post some pics when its done.

I saw that rifle when it was up for auction at $1500 it was a good deal. I couldn't believe it went for what it did but still all in all not that bad. Can sell the scope and make some money back. If this is the one with the Simmons scope IIRC. You could just tell that it was in mint condition.

Thats what I told him. I pulled that scope right off and ordered a 6x20EFR Leupold. Hope to get it together on monday. Love seeing expensive rifles with cheap scopes and mounts. Never understand it myself. Why cheap out at that point.

Lord don't show your friend this post http://www.steelchickens.com/forums/vie ... f=3&t=6362  He might have an coronary blow out. Of course I haven't seen this one though. I put cheaper scopes on rifles that will not be getting dialed much and are not competition rifles etc they do the job good enough. What I never understood was guys putting $600 + glass on $150 rifles  At least at this price point the high $ scopes look like a bargain compared to the rifle itself.
