Hunter Rifle Question
Can I flute a tapered barrel (Kreiger #5) to save weight and still be legal to compete in Hunter class? This assumes I make the overall weight, 2lb. trigger with safety and stock configuration fits the hunter class jig. I've been out of active competition for awhile and am considering building another rifle.
Thanks in advance

Re: Hunter Rifle Question
Here is my high power hunter.
Remington 700 action with Kriger #5, 25" barrel, Leupold 6.5x20 LR, Pharr RT/s stock, Jackson Trigger.
Comes in under the 9lb weight limit without fluting the barrel. I would think you could go to a #6 and still
make weight if you were to flute the barrel.
Good Luck with your build.

Re: Hunter Rifle Question
Thank you everyone for the quick replies to my post!!! STS that is one nice stick- your rifle is pretty close to what I'm currently trying to piece together, but in left hand. Now if I can get a lefty stock from Robertson's the wait to have it put together will begin.
