Irene

It could have been much worse if it was as they predicted. Fortunately we dodged a bullet as it could have been much worse.

While right here locally we didn't get the damage of the 2006 floods, we still have over 5,500 in our county without power and over 7K in our neighboring county with no power and extensive damages. They got over 8" of rain in just this storm. Locally we broke the record for August and currently have 8.90" of rain for the month when a month ago we were in a drought. We have more then we need and Texas and the south have none, wish we could share it with you.

259, my prayers are out to those that are dealing with the floods. Irene left only 1.14 inches here at the house, so actually we are still in a drought in parts of FL, but the worst of the season is yet to come...full moon in September will be here soon.

My sister lives in Chester Vt. they can't even get the rescue workers out there since the roads have been washed away. Chester Pa. was also hit hard from what I hearing. The really wierd part is how the media has glossed over all the areas that have been devistated and only show the areas were a tree or two have fallen on some power lines. Whats up with that! :-??

Do you think it's the Gov't trying to show how 'good' FEMA is now and the Media is used to that end.

I was in Suffern, NY last weekend and was delayed getting out of New York City until Monday morning. Sorry for all the flooding, but there wasn't much to it where we were staying. Guess we were lucky where we were. A LOT of throughways and roads closed on Sunday, so we just had a hurricane party which we are used to!

My cousin in CT has been witout power since Sunday AM and they say maybe... maybe by next Wednesday they will have it back. Luckly they have a small generator and can keep the refrig running.

From the looks of the Weather channel it looks like you'll be getting wet at home too Ducky.

I have not heard back from Jud Durant in Vermont. I am hoping it is just an internet outage.

He has a nice blog you might find interesting.

The long range forecast for rain in Central Texas is not at all encouraging. So far our rain has been about what 'Vegas gets.

A man I know in San Antonio has been sent East to adjust claims & (re)construction. He has been told that he will be gone 4-6 weeks. I won't be surprised if it is longer than that as it has continued to rain since he was notified to get ready.
