Wanted: Anschutz Achiever for Daughter's 4H position matches

Post by Jason »

Anyone got one that your kid grew out of? Seen one for sale somewhere? If so, let me know. We're ideally looking for the ST model with the foreend rail and sights, but I can probably put a rail in the standard model. My 10-year-old daughter is small for her age and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a decent position rifle small enough to fit her. She blew through two classes last year in 4H while shooting a CZ 452 Varmint that I hacked a stock up for and put sights on. I want to give her a better rifle to shoot with this year, as she's going to be competing against a lot better shooters. If you happen to have better ideas for outfitting an up-and-coming little girl who's ecstatic about shooting, let me know. I'm also hoping to bring her into silhouette in the next year. You can send me a PM on here or email me at jason(at)themccurrys.com if you want.

Thanks!

hi jason,
good luck on the acheiver, a guy at my club uses one for his grandson. scarce though. have you looked at the izmash CM2 they have a youth version and a adult, they seem pretty good, a guy around here uses one for biathalon. they have lots of spacers so it should be easy to fit it.

cheers

The only one of those I saw looked really big even in the Cub version. I'm looking for something that a 65lb little girl can use for all four positions. :)

what about putting a more posistion friendly stock on the CZ? you have already spent the time on adding sights wtc. i actually am very intrigured but a 3/4 pos CZ, i think it is more than accurate enough 'specially for 50' work.

could easily add a anschutz size rail in the boyds.

Thanks, Dave. The Boyd's stock isn't as good for this task as the CZ Varmint stock that I've already modified. The PDC Custom stock alone costs as much as the Anschutz that I'm talking about buying and wouldn't do the job as well, either. Keep the ideas coming, though. :)

Jason, I just sent a note to a friend that I know that has one and may part with it. If he wants to sell I'll let you know and give you his contact information.

I did find this one with a search also...

Needs the rail though, and for $350 that seems to be a fair deal.

Thanks, Brian. I've got a wanted post up on TargetTalk, too. That one's not quite small enough and would indeed need a rail.

Jason, That person I know doesn't want to sell his and he said the barrel wasn't groved for a front sight. Best bet is the one on Guns America that I posted http://www.gunsamerica.com/915112376/Gu ... l_1451.htm

Yeah, but that guy wants $700 for a $350 to $400 gun, and I'm not sure that rear sight would be legal for 4H position shooting. I'll keep looking. Let me know if anyone else finds one out there for sale. Thanks!
