Is this legal?

Post by calixt0 »

as I said before I'm new to the sport. I'm not really concerned about what is legal and what is not because I don't plan on competing against anything but myself.

So is this legal?

Image

this is what I'm currently using and am a bit irritated because it wont load from a magazine without shaving lead off the bullets, so I have to load each shot 1 at a time. not the easiest thing to do. when loading from the magazine I actually have to hit the bolt handle to get it to chamber.

If it's .22 long rifle and weighs less than 10.2 pounds it will qualify for the silhouette class. :-bd

I think that the cheek piece is too high. I don't have a rule book handy but I believe that the top of the comb must be below the center line of the bore.

I think you are right Byron. I would imagine that most match directors would let him shoot for shits and giggles for a modest entry fee.

savage mako....the forend may be too deep as well, needs to be 2" 0r under below the center of bore as well.

No the Mako is not legal in the original confirguration for the above mentioned rules, cheek height above centerline of the bore, too deep on the forend. THat being said, most local directors will be happy to let you shoot as long as you don't want the any awards in an approved or registered match.

Nice looking rifle! Heck, take it to the match and see what happens; it's a compliment if someone gets fussy, since it probably means you beat them.

I am going to take it to shoot the first saturday of the next month. Just a local club match. I don't think they offer prizes or anything. Judgeing from my practice rounds if I beat anyone it will be because they are really bad not that I'm any good. If shot at the chickens (a swinger I made) and my best is 3 out of 10. don't see me winning anything like that. thanks for the comments and feedback. I may end up investing in a CZ 455 to play with sometime soon.

Go with the 452. In my opinion they are made a little better than the 455 and have less kinks/problems at this time!

calixt0, before you buy, try. Most silhouette shooters will let you shoot theirs. I am with Baby Huey on this one, 452 is better quality than the 455, but you may find that one fits better than the other.
