Rule Question...

Post by CZforlife »

A fellow at our club shoots air rifle and he happens to have a wire that hangs off to the side of his gun with a feather on it! Is this something legal I could use on my smallbore silhouette rifle? I think it would help with trying to read/deal with the wind, plus if done right it could look pretty cool too.

Sorry, but as smart as you sound, you should know by now that any attachments on a hunter rifle are illegal, also I am pretty sure that your mentor have told you that either rifle will have to fit on the NRA jig used at the Nationals, I don't think that a gun with a wire and flag hanging from it would fit the jig. And I may add that once the rifle is certified no modifications " should " be made.

Hey it sounded good atleast! And I shot my best score yet with the rifle today! Could it be done on a standard rifle?

I say the wire should go straight up and have a whirly bird on top of it so it can help keep his cool as well as help Hammy keep up with where he is.

BH is unlikely to get lost in a crowd, and anything that adds height would endanger aircraft, but putting the whirly bird on front of the cap might help entertain the lad between relays.

Most likely the air rifle shooter you observed also shoots Field Target. Most of the field target shooters just tape a piece of yarn to the front of the barrel, but I have seen shooters use a piece of wire with the yarn or a feather with the wire.
