And to think I was going to suggest that if you want to learn how to 'make chickens' you should ask jjp....or if you are really bold ask his 7 year old son how the chickens make baby chickens.

Yes, a 22 will damage 1/4 rather quickly. And yes there are lots of swingers out there to buy but you can always make you own as well.

The parts kits they sell on ebay are pretty cheap and good quality. I set up a small jig to hold the bases and animals square and had them all done in an hour or so. It had something to do with cub scouts fundraiser in the title, I don't know if the kit is the fund raiser or you buy them for scouts to put together....whatever...they are a good deal.

RustyNut wrote:Thanks all. Those sights have the info I was looking for. There is a fab shop where I work and the plasma cutter they have will cut up to 1/4". May not look as good as an CNC but it will make a good target.
These will be used for informal shooting both rifle and pistol.
I can send you an Autocad file of the targets if you can feed the data into the plasma cutter.

RE 1/4 inch thick....

I have two different sets of steel targets all 1/4 inch thick. One set is of hardened steel, the other is lesser quality.
Both sets are fine still. All I have shot at them is match velocity ammunition. (1050 fps more or less).

I believe that the Chicken swingers take a lot of abuse because of their inabilty to freely fly. There is a lot of torque put on them with a head or tail hit on a swinger that is not as drastic on a target that spins off the stand.

I have a set from Quality Targets (best price on eBay... Search for "Quality Targets"). I think they are 3/16" thick and the only time I experience damage on chickens is when a buddy of mine shoots cheap high velocity ammo at them. Shots to the head or tail will twist the leg slightly. I've only experienced this with the HV ammo though.

It's Winter here, and we're getting stir crazy.

I made some AirPistol indoor practice chickens with some tinplate and a pair of scissors,

They work good enough to practice technique, and a break from shooting paper.

(These carry my sponsors logo advertising !). :D

1armoured...good and attorney in the same sentence? I think you need to do some more 'prison art' and practice some more, so the sponsors are obliterated.
