Resettable SB Silhouette targets?
I know this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find any solid leads about a vendor who supplies resettable SB silhouette targets. We have a local club who is interested in shooting SB Silo, mostly as unofficial practice matches. The members aren't too keen on having to walk downrange to re-set targets after every bank.
It seems that there was someone making resettable 1/5 scale SB targets, but I can't seem to find any contact info. now.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yaaaaaaaa. Walking down to set the smallbore targets is a bummer. If it realy is that big of pain in the ass, hire a couple target setters.
I guess you didn't want a smart ass answer but I think if you can't walk down to set SB targets you should stay at home and drink beer.

If this game was easy we would call it golf.

I have a set of resettable air rifle targets and they are fantastic. It really speeds up practice at home. I don't know if i would like to drag a smallbore set to a public range.

Hey Jerry, don't forget, some people that enjoy the shooting sports have handicaps, injuries... old age.Jerry G wrote:Yaaaaaaaa. Walking down to set the smallbore targets is a bummer. If it realy is that big of pain in the ass, hire a couple target setters.![]()

Re: Resettable SB Silhouette targets?
This is for a group of retired guys, 2 of whom do have physical handicaps, and all of whom are 65 or older. They like to go out to "The Club" during the daytime, when many of us are at work. These guys enjoy shooting from under the covered firing line, but not necessarily walking downrange to reset targets, and especially not when it's 95+ degrees F out. These guys are not short on money or time, but are a little short on giddy-up-and-go.
They were already talking about fabbing up some swingers, but I thought that SB sized resettable targets existed. Back to the original question - has anyone seen resettable 1/5 scale targets?

It's a Private Club range. I'm sure they would find storage at the club, if they can find any such device.

Re: Resettable SB Silhouette targets?
We haul 2 full sets of resetables to the range each month because there is no place to store them at the range. May look into putting up a little building on the side someplace. When it is 97 degrees and 80% humidity it is nice to just pull the string. I prefer the animals on the rails of course but our other setup to do that requires driving rebar into the ground 80 times, dirt=concrete is has been so dry here.
As to the original mention. A guy down here makes them to order sometimes. He free hand cuts the animals so they are more life like with no 2 looking exactly the same lol. They work great and are used at several ranges around this area. I have a set at my house to shoot but I am also one of the monthly haulers! Once we get these paid off as a club we might get some plasma cnc cut animals to replace these but its not that big a deal we are all shooting at the same peculiar looking animals
I want to say he was getting around $600 for a set of 4 animals but it may be more now days. If you wanted him to fab up the reset and get some precision cut animals to attach I bet he would work something out with you, you may have to provide the animals. I will have to get his contact info from Tureau for you his name is Carrol Scioneaux from Vacherie La.
I shutter to think what a set of HP targets sells for!!

This guy makes the air rifle ones, it might be worth it to check and see if he'd do a set of SB ones for you.

Can anyone describe how the re-set mechanism works?

Re: Resettable SB Silhouette targets?
It's just a bar that lifts the animals back up into position and when the string is released it goes back down.Jetmugg wrote:Can anyone describe how the re-set mechanism works?

Re: Resettable SB Silhouette targets?
I still can't visualize how the weight, bar, and string are constructed so as to reset the animals. I can picture that each animal must be hinged on/near the back side of the "feet" to flip up and down, but not how the string is pulled to reset.
I'm a pretty mechanical guy by nature, but for some reason, I haven't been able to picture this apparatus yet.
Some of the guys at the club are retired welders, pipefitters, sheet metal workers, etc. I think if they could see how these setups worked, they might make their own.

While this doesn't give you a good view of how the lever works it may give you the idea. Scroll down and in one of the poste it shows pictures of a set someoe else made.Jetmugg wrote:I still can't visualize how the weight, bar, and string are constructed so as to reset the animals.
