What do you look at while...

Post by 22's forever »

What do you look at while looking thru your scope ? Do you concentrate on the target or the reticle dot? Where do you try to aim on EACH (distance wise) target?
Thanx again

I was taught to concentrate on the silhouette, ( and that if you try and follow your dot, your wobble zone will only increase as you chase it around !),
and if you are steady enough, to concentrate on a particular spot on the animal.
Then wait for the dot/crosshair to 'dwell' on my aim point area, when I transfer to trigger control, and follow through on my aim point.

For chickens and pigs, I try and line up with the leg, and aim to hit the animal just above the leg.

The pig and ram are aimed to hit just above the belly.

I will also try and keep to the right or left of the animal, depending on which way any significant crosswind is blowing.

All good theory, but it gets harder as you get older !!!
esp if you are being buffeted by any wind.

As they say in the Armed forces,....."All plans turn to custard as soon as the first shot is fired !!! " :D

cheers,
