Shot in my first match
Shot in my first match this weekend. Had a BLAST! Only took 10/40 in the first match and 9/40 iin the second. I didnt think it was too bad for the first go. Had some scope issues and the wind was howling. I can tell it has been a long time since I hav shot anything unsupported from my shoulder. Looking forward to shooting the next match.
Got to get used to setting the rifle down after each shot to slow down....

Re: Shot in my first match
If that was in Erie, CO ~ I was there too. First match since sometime in the 80's when I was a kid. I hadn't shot "live" ammo (I'm an air-gunner) in 3~4 years, and that was only for a day, otherwise I shot my last rifle in 1993. heh ~ that wind was a Chore. I didn't stick around for the 2nd match as my wife was with me and I didn't want to make her wait another 2.5 hours (it was her choice to come, but I wanted to earn the points for volunteering to stop early). I think I shot either a 14 or a 16, though the AA shooter I was paired with only managed a 20... that wind was Really bad.
I sure do remember those silhouettes being a lot bigger when I was a kid.
I'm looking forward to the next match too, though we have a bit of a wait ~ May 15th is the next smallbore. I really would like to get a few other rifles to shoulder to see if I can find something with a stock that I like. Sometimes it sucks being 6'4" with gorilla arms (for reference, any of you normal sized people ought to try shooting a Cricket to get a similar feel).

Re: Shot in my first match
longshot and Brian...Great scores for the first time out, especially in the wind. Brian, work the wife into shooting as well, then all you have to worry about is enough money for all the ammo, after you buy the correct fitting gear for each of you. longshot, seems to me that you were in TN, heard they had a good crowd there despite a bunch of the regulars being in Brunswick for the Georgia states. Welcome to the addiction, look forward to meeting you guys at matches soon.

Near Central PA there are a few venues. Harrisburg, Ridgway, Blue Rock in Milroy PA, Consolidated Sportsmans Club in Lycoming. Blue Rock has the Good Friday match this week.
