LEUPOLD/PREMIER 18-40 SCOPE W/DOT

hambone....this was certainly NOT, even partly, your fault. This is a silhouette community site that folks should be free to comment on anything they want. The scope was, indeed, an incredible value. The seller is unquestionably under duress having recently lost his job and his judgement on how to price the scope was influenced by the need to have cash in hand as soon as possible. Faced with the realization that another hundred dollars might be obtained to help meet the next mortgage payment, I'm not sure I wouldn't have been tempted myself. Desperate times now, and I don't wish his situation on anybody.

I expect folks to comment on an item for sale here. The feedback is a good thing and it's just part of the way this forum works. More than once I've posted a "hey, look at this cool rifle over on GunBroker" without thinking that I probably just ran the price up for the early bidders. That's happened to me as a bidder, as well. I know it's irksome for someone, but that's just the way it is.

Bullshit. Any first year law student will explain this was a breach of contract. An offer to sell and an acceptance of an offer to buy said item at the agreed price in writing is a binding contract. Whatever the stated reasons for selling are certainly not the buyers concern, and what's with the with two screen names? This doesn't pass the smell test. But you are right about us being a community so what happened to the honor system?

I have a Premier Reticles 'silhouette special' Leupold Vari-X III, in 6.5-20X, optional turret knobs. The dot reticle I am not sure of its size. I read 6.5 was the typical size. The scope was made at least 10 years ago and is unmarked along with the rings and mounted on my 700 BDL in 7mm08. It is satin finished as are the rings an base and they were very good quality with torx screws.

The owner of PR suggested it when I told him I was shooting steel silhouettes. I do not recall he mentioned or suggested a power 'bump'

I recall it came in a yellow box and I believe had a white sticker on one end, but I shipped another scope once in it. I didn't realize that those PR scopes are sought after now.

Blackdogxx, Premier Reticle boosted scopes are a bit of a 'collectors item' if you want to call them that. Premier still builds custom mods on scopes but not on Leupolds for the silhouette market.
The dot size that Dick Thomas used to put in for silhouette was around 1/2, he did a number of custom dots sizes and I am aware of 3 fixed 1 minute dots that he did. There a quite a few of the variable dot size based on the power setting. I am aware of a few mil dots of his that were shot for a while, but anyone that shoots this game much usually tends to get away from them as there is too much to concentrate on without having to throw in the multiple dots.
Chicken George gave you a good recommendation to find out what you have, as there were quite a few scopes in which all they did was change the reticle. I have one in which that was done was to double the power.

In response to your pathetic, unfounded accusation, I did NOT sell the scope for a higher price but, instead, to a buyer who was not concerned about the minimum focus for the scope! Since you have decided to butt in on a forum which does not, in any way concern you, why don't you at least try to find out the facts before shooting off your mouth! Why don't you, for instance, give proof to the other readers that the scope, was in fact, sold for a higher price? Answer, You can't because it wasn't! Perhaps this is why he didn't know who he was selling the scope to since he wasn't sure which of him was doing the transaction at the time. Me, Myself or I and you know they never talk together. After having someone come back with 3 screen names I would be glad my MO came back as that smells to SCAM.
