I think my next scope is going to be a astronomical binicular a 20x by 100mm should work out nicely and a lot less money than the twin kowa set up.

The other Byron...again spotting scopes are a personal preference. I carry a Nikon Sky and Earth....fairly inexpensive so when it gets beat up by the airlines I'm not upset and works well for me.
I agree with the Moore Byron though, get the vest first. Yes, it does more than just add to you bling! It helps slow the visible heart rate, gives you a place to carry your 'stuff' (ammo, magazines etc.). Now which vest???? I have both Hardscrabble and Marco Sanchez...advantages and disadvantages to both....so the choice is yours. I know that Steve Wooster has one of Marco's slightly higher end vests, he does make some very reasonably priced good vests. Sandbags, are another useful item, stop watch, clipboard...all stuff you can build as you go.
Get the vest then worry about the spotting scope and in the mean time look through as many as you can to decide what works for you.
