Question about Scope Height
I have seen many of the Silhouette rifles lately, and they all have scopes mounted very high above the barrel / action.
I went to the Silo Rules page, and there is actually a LIMIT on how high they can be. That tells me there must be some advantage to a higher
scope position on a silhouette rifle.
Can some one enlighten me on this? I shoot bench rest Rimfire, and there is no rule of this sort there, and most try and keep the scope as low
as is possible without having bump issues with the bolts...

Re: Question about Scope Height
High mounts allow you to keep you head and neck upright taking the strain off your neck muscles. I don't like to go to high as I tend to lose or change my cheek pressure.

Re: Question about Scope Height
Height is going to vary based on the build of person and the physical condition of their ability to hold their head up.
Perfer to keep the head as erect as possible.

Re: Question about Scope Height
So it seems the height is for head position mostly. Nothing special about line of sight vs. # of clicks between pigs and turkeys and rams then. Ok, I can do that easily enough then. Find a set that makes the position I use most comfortable and repeatable.
Been there done that for the Bench shoots I do. And yeah,,, from testing here at the house with half a dozen rings laying around... higher is more comfortable and easier to get "natural"....
Thanks!!! got it....
