Champion Shooters Suppliers...
Bet some of the folks on the forum have dealt with Champion Shooters. What's your impression? I tried to get a 1712MS a few weeks ago, and the quote was $1845.00, despite the fact that $1575.00 (IIRC) was still posted online. If you read the disclaimer, you'd get an impression that they can sell you any price.
Btw, a friend of mine from CA told me Champion Shooters doesn't ship to CA anymore. Is that true?

Re: Champion Shooters Suppliers...
I have had no problems dealing with them. Several of us locally have bought SK ammo from them recently with no issues to mention. I don't think 1712s are ever going to go down in price. Even used ones don't hardly loose any value. About the longest I have seen any price stay the same was for the 1712 barreled action at Champions Choice. They stayed at $1050 for a couple of years IIRC and may still be at that price. You could check to see and then if they are still available at that price and then post in the marketplace section and see if you can find a take off factory stock and bottom metal from someone that built a custom Pharr or Wooster stocked gun or even buy a McMillan and come out a bit better, or contact one of the fine gunsmiths available to us in the sport and see if they could just built you a rifle on the barreled action. It does not cost that much more than a factory new gun to get one built with the composite stocks and you will never have to look back if you go that route.

The acqusition of a 1712.
I have been trying.
What I am looking for is a 1712 with a mcmillian stock with the new style safety in new condition.
I have found the action at Champions Choice however they do not have the trigger guard or the mounting hardware? Mcmillian does not have these parts the wil however built a 1712 stock.
Any ideas where I can find the necessary mounting hardware?
Regards Alan

Champions choice can provide Anschutz parts, or Mark Pharr and Mr. Marv have their own units. J & P, a SC sponsor, sells action screws that have a great reputation, so it's all available.

Champions Choice Can supply the parts?
Not what they told me or I would have ordered them a month ago.
Mcmillian will make the stock and they have parts for a 54msr however Mcillian and Champions Choice told me they do not stock these parts?
Whom, at Champions Choice are you speaking to?
I will try calling them again.
Mcmillian is making me a non thumbhole composite stock for my 54msr and I can add a 1712 stock to the order?
Thanks Alan

If CC doesn't have the bottom metal, look to Mark Pharr, or I'm sure Steve Wooster or Evelio McDonald can hook you up.

IIRC, the Macmillan stocks sold by Champions Choice are inletted for the old-style safety. Of course, you can get a blank inletted for anything on a custom absis, but it will just cost more mooney than an off-the-shelf item.

Champions choice stopped carrying the Mcmillian stocks. They had one 54msr with a f/f black Mcmilian stock left a few months back no stock on the 1712 f/g stocks and are not supplying any more Macmillian stocks. You will have to go direct to Mcmillian to get a Mcmillian Fg stock..fwiw.Finprof wrote:IIRC, the Macmillan stocks sold by Champions Choice are inletted for the old-style safety. My experience with Champion Shooters has been first rate. I've purchased a rifle, 3 cases of ammo, and probably $500 worth of other supplies over the last 5 years or so.767mod wrote:Bet some of the folks on the forum have dealt with Champion Shooters. My own position is to use online information as a guide. Maybe its just my nature, but anytime I spend much over $100 I want to talk to a human (at least by phone) to verify what I'm getting and what it costs. You may, of course, dictate your own path.
I'd call Carl and ask him directly about his shipping policies. I think they take calls beginning at 11:00 EST, and at least one day per week they keep the store open 'til 8:00 EST.

I have had good expernces with Champion Shooters, and Champion's choice too for tha matter. On the Anschutz price. If they don't have it in stock or bought the gun recently US Dollar has dropped considerably and no doubt they paid a lot more for the gun. Blame the government who is borrowing and printing more money.

Unfortunately their web site, like many others, do not keep up with the current prices changes in a real timely manner, thus the cover all disclaimer statements you see on most sites.
For the most part I have had excellent luck, customer service and response from them and their prices are usually competitive with everyone elses.

Re: Champion Shooters Suppliers...
I bought my 1712 and 54.18MSR from them with no problem. I thought that I was going to have to get a copy of an FFL to have them shipped, they ask where I was going to have it shipped to, they had a copy on file and the guns were shipped! There was no price difference betwwen the web price and the cost when I bought the guns, can't explain that. I don't know who you were talking with at McMillan, try Dick Davis, that's who I usually deal with there.

Re: Champion Shooters Suppliers...
Off Champions web site, Pretty much tells the story with any Anschutz
Due to drastic changes in the exchange rate between the Euro and the Dollar we are pricing guns as they come in. We price the guns with a minimum markup above what our actually cost is (this has never changed), however since the currency exchange rates are uncertain and changing it is possible to have the same gun at different prices b/c they came on different shipments with different exchange rates. If there is a gun that has different prices the cheaper one will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Also Anschutz is running at capacity right now, not all of these guns are available. We cannot determine the price of rifles that are on back order with the manufacturer until they arrive. We are still committed to providing the best possible price and that will not change. When the economy stabilizes again we will start posting prices as we have done in the past.
