Nice looking rifles Jason. Very nice work Mr.Wooster.

I do have one observation, albeit negative, about rifle #2's Leupold scope. Your nice Leupold suffers from "USS". Ugly Sunshade Syndrome. In 2004 Leupold went to different threads and for some reason made the sunshades smaller in diameter. But..fear not my friend. I have a cure for USS. A couple of years ago I made 100 or so aluminum adaptor rings that allows old style (still available) sunshades to screw into newer post 2004 40mm Leupold scopes. I still have a small pile of them here at home. I saw that some older sunshades are for sale at a good price here on the SC classifieds. A ring or two is yours for the asking, PM me with your mailing address. Here is a photo of the rings.

Thanks Bob M. I wondered why they made them smaller than the scopes. I will get in touch with you. I can't wait to shoot them. I might have to shoot them in the morning. It's amazing how light the stocks are. The 1712 with the 6.5-20 weighs 7.35#'s and the 1710 weighs 8.06#'s with the 25x.

Jason,
Great looking rifles! I'm hoping to get myself a 1712 here very soon.

I have a question about your mounts - where did you get them? Can you tell me more about them, is your gun drilled & tapped for the mounts?

Thanks for the info.

The mounts are from Mr. Marvin Pearson. The base slides over the dovetail and attaches to the tapped receiver. Then the rings slide onto the base and are attached to the base int he same manner. I believe they are the best out there. I feel very fortunate to have these two matching sets.

That is a good looking rifle for sure. Out of curiosity what are the height of the rings?
thanks

They are right under the hunter class limit. I believe they are 1.475" . I would have to check to be positive. Mr. Marvin makes awesome stuff. Steve shined them up for me to match the bottom metal. They are nice and shiny. :D
