CZ 452 Scout Stock at the Southern Nationals

While down at the Southern Nationals, I saw an aftermarket standard rifle stock for a CZ 452 Scout. It was on the table where Evelio and Paul were. I've already asked Evelio and Paul, and neither knows who the stock belonged to or anything about it. My 10-year-old (as of two days ago) daughter Abby wants to start shooting silhouette and the factory stock on her Scout is most definitely not designed for scope use. Does anyone know whose stock that was or even what brand/model it was? Thanks!

If all else fails, I seem to remember a CZ rifle with a really nice blue stock that someone on here modified a few years ago before getting a custom 1712. It seems somebody was pretty handy with wood, bondo and paint.

I am so jealous. I wish either of my daughters would show the slightest interest in shooting silhouettes. Looks like we might have another member of TPK, or we may even have enough for MTPK "mini-team-pretty-kitty". Consider yourself lucky.

That part is already in the works, but adding wood and bondo is heavy. She just turned 10 and is tiny for her age, so I was hoping for something lighter like the aftermarket synthetic stocks normally are.

I know what you mean. I put a Richards Microfit laminate stock on my CZ American and it was over 8 pounds with it. Kitty might have some suggestions on what you could try.

Laminate stocks are heavy, but an amazing amount of weight can be removed by hollowing the butt and forearm.

Not to disagree but to clarify. 1 cubic inche of Oak weighs about .5 ozs. Even if the laminate weighed in at 1 oz /cu inch there isn't too many cubic inches you can take out of the back of a stock or the forearm. I would say 4 ozs. tops.

When hollowing out a CZ 452 Varmint stock and forearm, we were only able to remove 4.1 ounces. We were worried about getting the outside shells too thin at that point and had to leave enough in the stock to screw into.

I was working a laminate stock; much heavier than hardwood.

When trying to build up a stock that does not fit and wanting to keep weight at a minimum I have used foam. Like the blocks of stuff around electronic things in packages. Or you can buy it at hobby lobby. You can shape it almost any way and then put a filler over it and paint it what ever color you want. I got the filler at hobby lobby also. It is not real durable but I have one that has been on for 6 years with only a few dents.
