Bore Guide For RTS Stocked 1712?

What is the best boreguide to use with a Pharr RTS stock on a 1712? My Werks won't even go into the action without the bushing. It is too long and hits on the top of the stock. The Werks is 7" without the bushing which adds another inch. It appears something short is needed so it will clear the stock. It looks like a boreguide 6" would be max. That would be with the bushing if it has one. The bolt itself does not have a ton of clearance.

A Pharr RTS stock, if the action is bedded with the comb right at bore level as the rules allow, will have a comb that is too high for cleaning with a rod while the action is in the stock. You'll need to take it out of the stock (just the two action screws) and use a proper, high quality bore guide.

It is bedded as you mentioned and I was afraid of that as I just didn't see how a good bore guide would fit. I guess after you clean it you have to check the POI as it may have changed slightly?

Would you check the torque settings on the action screws and then adjust it back to that again to keep consistency?

I usually play around with torque settings on the screws when I'm going for accuracy with whatever the best lot of ammo I found was. On my current 1712 pillar bedded into a Pharr stock, it didn't make much difference so I went with my standard "pillar bedded" setting of 45 inch lbs. Note that my glass bedded, plain wood, and plain plastic settings aren't as high. When I'm done cleaning, I usually just put the action back into the stock, torque the screws down to 45 inch lbs, and it's really close to the correct point of impact at the next pre-match sight-in or practice. Different light, temperature, and weather can make as much of a difference in bullet point of impact versus point of aim as taking the action out/in of a stock, so I always do final sight in tweaking at the beginning of every match anyway. Cleaning the gun doesn't make it any worse, other than shooting about 5 shots on a clean barrel before I start trusting where the bullets are hitting.

I use a pull through on my smallbore and a universal guide from Sinclair one on my HP with the Pharr stocks.

Mark said he chopped the back off one years ago so it is considerably shorter and fits. I guess nobody uses a bushing in the boreguide either.
