1712 question

This is kind of a dumb question, but I'm in need of some feedback.

I've found some ammo that my gun likes but it has a quirk. When feeding a round into the chamber, the turning of the bolt gets stymied.
I either have the choice of backing the bolt up a bit and more forcefully closing the bolt or wrenching down on the turn and forcing the close.
It's an odd thing. I see the bullet is engaging the lands when I extract and look at one... My concern is for additional wear-and-tear on the bolt and cam surfaces...???

Should I be concerned?

By chance is it Aguila.... I had that same problem when I tried it in my rifles.

Mike, CCI mini group or target ammo tend to be oversize in some rifle's chambers just use good lubricant on the bolt's moving parts and were it contacts the action to minimize galling or wear.

I have had some Aguila and some CCI bullets do this in my 1712 with the factory barrel. Just take some calipers and measure the bullet diameter. As Tony said, just make sure the right parts are greased and it won't hurt anything. When you're using that ammo and bring the bolt forward, make sure to push directly forward and expect the resistance. This usually avoids the forward-back-forward. As you get tired of this, it will motivate you to find other ammo that is at least as accurate and less trouble.

I also have chambering issues using some ammo. CCI is difficult to close the bolt on a chamberd round and yes does cause wear on metal to metal contact of lugs. Elley / Lapua / wolf etc works very nice and you can cycle bolt still shouldering rifle, unlike the CCI. Had issues with Mex Fiocci. After 20 rounds unable to extract spent round. Happens every during practice.

You need to switch ammo. CCI Std chambers tight in my rifle because the bullet was engaging the lands. it wasn't very accurate either. So move on to something else because you're likely to wear the bolt lugs with extending shooting sessions with the stuff.

I still don't understand why some people think they have to go 'cheep' on their ammo. Start figuring out how much you spend on just driving back and forth to the range and you will see that the ammo cost is minor. If you realy can't afford some good stuff, spend a lot more time dry firing. It costs nothing and is much better for your shooting. I know, watching the targets fall is a great feeling but do you want that instant rush or do you realy want to raise your scores? Dry fire more and when you shoot, use some decent ammo. Now I will get down off my soap box.

The rim of the cartridge case of all CCI .22 ammo is thicker, which makes it hard to close the bolt on a tight chamber. Why put regular unleaded in a Mercedes SLS AMG anyway?
