Rem 541T-HB

Post by bugabob »

Will this rifle qualify as Hunter Class? Not sure if the barrel is contoured or not. Tried to do a search and can't find anything. Thanks!

bugsbob, mine is too heavy when scope is added, and the barrel is not tapered. The 541S is the hunter version, with a tapered barrel and is lighter.

Thanks for the response, Mary. Do you have any advice or thoughts about this rifle for standard class, ie, accuracy, stock fit, hard-to-find-5rd mags, etc?

bob, i bought the same rifle for my son. It will be great for standard rifle. I put a 36 leup. on it to test it. It shoots incredibly well at 100m. I had no problem getting 1inch groups with the lower end ammo. I am putting a 6x20 leup. on it for their matches. Haven't tried to locate another magazine for it yet. I don't see how that should be a problem since the same one should fit both the s and t models. good shooting!

Bob,
They are accurate rifles, magazines fit both versions (T and S) so they aren't really hard to find, just made out of plastic, which goes against the grain
of many old school shooters. Don't foeget what Hawk talking about...good repeatable glass.

My 541T rifle is fine. It's those junky plastic magazines that finally got me to quit using it. I have several 10 rd. that I think I got from Brownell's. With only 5 rounds loaded sometimes 3 or 4 would pop out before I could get the magazine into the rifle. It's very distracting in a match and my shooting ain't that good to begin with. Are there any better magazines out there?
