Zero shift?

I ahve not tried to duplicate Tureaus expirment, but I have spent a lot of time talking with him about it, and he did have the temp and wind conditions recorded at one time. I do not think he had paid attention to Barometric pressure, as it was done at sea level (less than 15 elevation). I'm fairly sure high humidity as well, which will throw in another variable.

I learned alot from Jerry and his untranslatable notebook. He knew exactly what he had wrote. I couldn't make anything of it. He had to translate it for me. I shot with him and Bruce Finley during the air rifle matches. Between those two and Mary I could fill a notebook with knowledge. You learn alot shooting with experienced shooters.

You are right Jason when you have people locally that are so well seasoned and knowledgable you can learn alot. It also gives you someone to shoot for being competitive with eventually as your goal. He has Jeaux chasing him and I am chasing Jeaux so it makes for better shooting all around. Jerry is a sespool of knowledge it is all in how you manage to digest it all and not get thinking to much while your shooting. He will stay at the range all day shooting and telling you what he knows if you will listen He shoots pretty good for a SENIOR eh Jason? And he is just getting into the airguns now he came out this past Sat to our air rifle match and shot with us. Complained about how low the magnification was on the airgun scopes, only being 32x and all! I've seen him shoot groups warming up offhand that many people would have trouble making off a bench. He also likes to hotdog it and shoot the chicken and pigs turned on the stand sideway off the stand edge on You definitely got a good dose of info for those 3 shooters I am sure. I will get the details from him at the match Sat about when he shot and temps/humidity etc. I know the altitude if you can call it that.

I shot his rifle with the 60x. Man, the animals looked like they were 3 feet away.

He did get a Paw Paw award in Winnsboro. I hope I can still hold a rifle at his age. Maybe the 60x is for his aging eyes.

Ok I talked to Jerry T. about his Ram map. The test was done only visually as though the scope was a surveying instrument. He had one mounted on a 64 action and another scope sitting on rings. Scopes were keep inside out of the sun. So the dots correspond to what he observed at that time interval in the undisturbed scopes.

It would be interesting if people could replicate such a experiment and record the data for their available ranges or open areas and report it all back to a thread with detailed info on direction related to the sun and other weather info.

Now if he could just do a experiment that would teach him to prevent CROSSFIRES He had a perfect run of 22 today when he ran the next two on the wrong bank of turkeys. You would think 60x would mean you always shoot the right animal

Dee, Tureau has a problem with crossfires, an issue with the 60X. I have yet to spot him in a match and despite calling the bank and target he should be on he always manages to crossfire at least two shots. Too much power, and lack of attention as to where he is on the bank/target.

JB..how true, but some have a habit of doing it at least once a match, or more, and Tureau is that one that I know that does crossfire at least once in every match I have ever shot with him.
Elisabeth Steiger has a similar crossfire lapse, but she does hear well enough to follow the call of the spotter which helps keep her on track. I have not determined if Jerry just doesn't count and check where he is when shooting, or if the power is so great that he truly doesn't notice a slight move when blinking and comes in on the wrong animal.

The field of view on Jerry's scope is tiny. It is very difficult to keep track of what bank you are on, let alone the particular animal.

I recall shooting at Raton. "Someone" had decided that the numbers for the banks of animals belonged at the very top of the berm. (Please, please explain the logic to me of having everyone on the line point loaded rifles over the top of the berm to find out which bank they are on.) Jerry wanted to paint a colored stripe on the left hand vertical support of each bank of animals to aid in identification. He simply wanted permission to do it with his own paint and was going to do it to all banks, not just his. You can guess who decided that this could not be done.

I do not know how Jerry does what he does when the rest of us are getting bounced from one bank of animals to the other by the wind where I shoot.
