Ammo choice?
It was windy at our local match today. It got me wondering if anyone chooses higher velocity ammo over their most accurate standard velocity stuff on windy days?

No. I shoot target ammo in calm and windy conditions. It simply out performs the high velocity stuff all the time. I'm not a technical genius but I believe its due to superior BC at subsonic velocities and elimination of the transonic effect.

Dan the man posted a study a few years ago that he did on that topic. His conclusion was that the faster you shoot a 22 bullet, the worse the BC becomes. The better the BC, the better it does in the wind. I hope he is OK with me reminding you all of his tests.

Have a chat with the match director before you try high velocity ammo. Most clubs we shoot at restrict shooting to standard velocity ammo to avoid target damage.
