WTB Hunter Class Small Bore Rifle
Prefer threaded action but pressed is fine. Would also prefer a after market stock not a fan of wood for some reason. I'm just getting started but want to buy a nice rifle that shoots

Greetings another option is the weatherby XXII I have new in box $735 plus shipping to FFL. Factory 5 shot group less than 1/2 inch at 55 yards. I assume you know that is the Anschutz 1416 in a WB stock.

Interesting "want to buy add"...Couple of things, couple of places to look....First of all, what is your budget? Threaded Anschutz actions built into frankenhunters by a competent smith in a Pharr stock are rare and their rarity and craftsmanship is reflected in the price..."Shoots as good as my brother in laws" is pretty subjective.....how good does your brother in law's shoot? Beware of any rifle that comes from someone other than the builder that is guaranteed to shoot a certain size group....lots of vaariables here...You would probably be well served by a stock Anschutz 1712, especially if your are just starting out...The Weatherby is a good option, it's a 64 Anschutz sporter in a pretty stock...You might contact Cathy Winstead-Severin at Good Shooting inc. about what she might have for sale..she sometimes has a few in stock and they are great folks...just some suggestions, I don't have anything for sale...Good luck and have fun with whatever you buy.

The Anschutz 1712 is one of the finest hunter rifles in production and there are other choices, one of which is my favorite (after the 1712) and that would be the Kimber HS. Well made, Pillar bedded, accurate, adjustable single stage trigger. Very nice rifle.

What price range are you looking at. Have you looked at a CZ 452 American or varmint ? There are some good rifles around $400.00. The 1712's are around $1600.00 new.

I have looked at the 452s and shot a few I've only shot one anschutz and liked both alot . I have a few scope a older weaver t 12 a m8 12 and a sightron s3 4.5 16 I think one of these will do for rt now becuase Im not talented enough to shoot a 36x.My price range has recently reduced to around 2500.

Weaver T series have the ability to track...no don't worry about holding strong power, anything from 6 to 20 is a good starter, and usually will work for just about anyone. Sightron is usually good , they started out a little rough so depending ont he age you may be fine with that also. Clarity of glass, and dot size is a personal perference, so go with what you have for now. Action and stock configuration are also a personal preference thing, my experience is that if you are comfortable with the firearm, you will shoot it well. This applies across the board to all shooters, and non shooters buying 'personal protection'.
As for buying something already built up, try it first. If there is any question go to any of the matches, there is always something around to 'borrow'. You have more than enough in your budget to start with just about anything (some Fortner actions and other really custom actions can run higher), but most of all come out and enjoy whatever you buy.
