A fellow shooter just got his new 1712 in the McMillan stock this week and it is the new style safety so they are making them already for the new models.

Re: FS: ANSCHUTZ 1712 FWT w/McMILLAN STOCK
Dee, I wonder which supplier that new style 1712 in a McMillan stock came from? I called Champion's Choice Friday 4/23/10 because the 1712 FWT was not listed in their new 2010 ctalog. The Lady answering the phone said that they had discontinued the 1712 in the Mcmillan stocks and would never be selling them again. She said that they had a few left in stock and that they were selling them at the 2009 price of $1610.
I am confused now. Does anybody have an explanation of what is really happening with the 1712 FWT?
I have too many 1712's and was thinking about thinning the herd but I may hold off now.

Re: FS: ANSCHUTZ 1712 FWT w/McMILLAN STOCK
Bobby, I heard at the state match last weekend that McMillan and Anschutz had a falling out over McMillan offering their own version of the 1712 set in their stocks. I always was under the impression that McMillan just provided the stocks to Anschutz to make that particular model 1712 as a side offering to their wood stocks.
Really it does not matter as you can still just buy the 1712 action and McMillan stock seperate then make the same rifle.
Not sure how true all those details are it was just range gossip nothing I have read anywhere that is difinitive.
As for the place he got it I am not sure but I want to say Champions. He just left to go bust prairie dogs but I think Jeaux may know.

Re: FS: ANSCHUTZ 1712 FWT w/McMILLAN STOCK
Not for nothing, but I was told that the 1712 actions were shipped to champions choice and there they were matched to stocks from McMillan. The stocks were never exported to Germany, too costly to pay duty both directions.
My brother-in-law talks to Jochen Anschutz once a week so maybe we can find out the history and future of the 1712's?????
