Timney Trigger Adjustment

I have a timney trigger in my CZ452 silo. With the trigger weight spring completely backed off the trigger pull is still about 2.75 lbs. I was hoping to get the pull weight closer to 2 to 2.25 lbs. There is still some room on the sear engagement that can be taken out but it seems no matter how close the sear is to breaking it still takes 2.75 lbs to get the trigger moving. Anyone have experience with these?

Well I had the same problem when I installed my 2nd one. The first one I ordered I asked them during the order for a 2lb pull it actually took 7 days to get it because they have to send it back for adjustments even though I paid for next day air. The second one I ordered was about 6 months later and had the same problem you are having. I called them to see what there gunsmith thought was the problem and he said the sear was too long and to send it back and they would fix it. I was actual was pretty frustrated because he acted like it happens all the time and it wasn't any big deal. If you can get one that works, they are Great if not, you (I) kinda feel like Telling them to stick that tootsie pop they send you somewhere other than the box. Sorry hope that helps

Did they say what part of the sear was too long?

No! That was what upset me so bad. I did all the stock inletting mounted it and it slamfired every time. When I tightned it up to about 4 lbs it would work but the safety would not. I tried asking questions and the guy (Kevin) just kept saying just send it back. It was kinda like I was wasting his time.

They are probably nervous about liability, and it's very easy to understand why.

I really have no issue with the trigger other than I can't adjust it below 2.75 lbs. I probably wouldn't have given it much thought but the other week I was loaned a Anschutz air rifle to shoot at our air rifle match and it has a 2 stage trigger set to about 6 oz. It took a little getting used to but it sure made me think about trigger control. I swear it would release by just thinking about it. I shot a 29/60 having never shot an air rifle let alone air rifle silhouette. WAY better than I shoot with my CZ. Going back to shooting my CZ I realize how much the trigger affects my release. I haven't studied how the geometry of the sear and bolt work together but wouldn't the amount of pull required to move the trigger (with the trigger spring unlaoded) be a function of the force being applied by the bolt/firing pin spring?

I would have to let a qualified gunsmith handle it or send it to Timney. Getting this one wrong goes beyond "Aw nuts."

I had one of the early ones that would not allow the safety to work. I had inletted the gun for it and thought it was a POS after installing due to the safety issue even though I use the gun for targets and never engage the safety.

Sent it back and got a new in the box "improved" one.

I never intend to put it on a gun after the first experience.

So if someone else wants to get a new CZ 452 trigger, let me know.

I finally figured this trigger out got the trigger adjusted to where I wanted it. I don't know about other Timney triggers but on mine the sear engagement plays a huge roll in the trigger pull force. I also discoverd my spring pull scale is worthless. I made up a dead weight scale and my trigger was at 3 lbs 14 oz not 2 lbs 12 oz. I set the sear engagement to where the pull force was 1 lb 12 oz and then adjusted the trigger spring to where the pull force is 2 lbs 2 oz. I spent some time practicing this morning and it is much better.
