CZ 452 varment-American bolt swap????

Post by Steelbuster9 »

I have a cz 452 American with Timney trigger that the safety will not work in. If I change the bolt out and put the bolt that is in my 452 varmint in it then everything works fine. The American bolt safety works in the varmint. Can I just swap them or are they different?

They're the same, but not necessarily identical. Headspace may (and probably will) vary between the two.
I believe I would leave the bolts alone and see if I could determine the problem with the Timney bolt with the barrelled action out of the receiver. Should be fairly simple.

Timney was very helpful when I had similar problems with a 452 Varmint.

They offered instructions on modifications that involved some light filing, so I declined. Although some on Rimfire Central have said it's a simple alteration (I don't recall if it was the bolt or the trigger) it's simply the kind of work I won't do myself, believing it's best left to a gunsmith. I later sold the rifle with the trigger and with full disclosure. Discuss it with Timney and see what they say.
