Cz 452 American for hunter class?

I recently traded a ruger 10/22 for a cz American and was wondering what class it would be ok to shoot in. I was shooting in the club match at the local gun club last year and loved it. I will probably stick with it for the first few matches this year then switch to NRA. The stock is factory as well as the trigger. The guns total weight is 7lbs 14oz. Thanks for the help

If the 7-14lbs. is with scope you can use it for either class. There is a 8.5 limit for hunting rifle (complete with scope, rings, and magazine, and 2lb. trigger). Hope this helps. enjoy.

The 452 American is great gateway drug for Silhouette! With bedding and trigger work it will take you a long, long way.

If you're thinking of a trigger job go right to the Timney. I messed around with the the other options but by far it's the best. You'' need to do a little fitting to get it in.

I ordered a timney for it and received it today. I did all the stock work with the dremel and the trigger will not work. i called them and explained to Kevin what it was doing and he said that the sear must be too long so now ive got my factory back in and have to send the timney back to them. i was really hopen to have it for the match next week. oh well

Good for you! A CZ with a Timney is a great rifle! Sorry for the problem, but it is definitely worthwhile!

My daughter uses a CZ American for both Hunter and Heavy. She chose that gun because it was pretty (and it is!). As will surprise no one on this forum, the gun shoots just as good as many target rifles. She kicked my butt with that gun, too.

The American is a little bit light and could use some weight added to the stock. Upgrading the trigger is a must, too.

I was handling the American and the Varmit today. The Varmit seemed a bit better with balance, shorter and heavier barrel. Alos has a "Single set Trigger"? anyone know if this is a big improvement or will it have to be replaced as well.

The 453 series has a set trigger that is supposed to perform better, but some match directors may disqualify it even though it can be set to work like a regular single stage trigger.

The varmint balaces very well for me too. The main reason I went with the american for the match this year is the weight for hunter class. I have a Nikon Monarch 6-24*50 on top. The total weight is just under 8lbs. When I mounted it on my Varmint the weight was 8lbs 14oz. i finally figured the timney out and it works great. Once u put a scope on either rifle the balance changes. for me anyway. I am very pleased with how the rig turned out. i am getting 1 hole groups at 40 meters and consistant .7" at 100 meters with wolf mt. off a bag of course
