perfect scores
I've been away from shooting for 25 years. I just started up again. I would like to know how common a 40 is in a national or state championship match. Years ago when I shot I don''t think anyone ever shot 40, but I'm sure the bar has been raised alot higher by now. Oh, by the way, are wind flags used in big matches?

Re: perfect scores
Wind flags are a range specific thing, some have them some do not. THere have been some 40's shot, at nationals, local matches and even at Winnsboro, so yes the bar is a bit higher than it was in the 70's and 80's. But then there are some of us that come out for the people and the fun, and are happy to be able to stand up and jerk uhhh I mean squeeze the trigger.

Re: perfect scores
I take it there is not so many perfect scores in a prestigious match that they have to create a international class for all the people that tie with a 40/40 or 80/80. I would like to know if there are factory sponsored teams in the nationals. Professional shooters for 22lr silhouette.

Re: perfect scores
Short of Cathy WInstead who has her own business selling Eley (among other things) and Troy Lawton still pushing Army and a few people that have some ammo/bullet sponsors, there is no money in the smallbore game. Several that have shot 40's are gainfully employed in the non shooting world, many are in places that have great conditions/ranges and matches every weekend, such as the Washington state and northern California area, as well as some in PA.
No professional class as yet, but many of the masters feel that they are up against professionals at times.

Re: perfect scores
I`m available for factory sponsorship. Just send me a new factory rifle and I`ll wear all the t-shirts and hats with appropriate logos. I`ll also require a sponsor for all my ammunition needs. Of course, travel expenses reimbursed and I only go 1st class. A spending account with a company credit card will be needed for all those business lunches, dinners, strip clubs, bar tabs, etc. .
Just PM me with all offers!

I'm with you... and if this happens I'll retire and only travel from match to match, even setting up a sponsors freebe booth at every match I attend. Knowing times are though, I'll settle for a motor home and drive from match to match to avoid the first class air fares and hassle of flying to keep my blood pressure under control as not to make me 'jerk' the trigger thinking of those cancelled flights.Chattcatdaddy wrote:I`m available for factory sponsorship. Ready to leave as soon as the motor home arrives.

We are both willing it conduct extensive interviews and ummm conduct the proper 'testing' of individuals and have them dress in the 'proper' ummm 'attire', yes that's it attire, to attract interest in our sponsors wares. ;)Innocent wrote:Chatty and 259...you two just don't have the correct parts to be fine representatives (and I am agetting too, ummmmm almost middle aged)...you should attend a Shot Show to fully appreciate what is required for that position.

The interviewing and testing could hurt our performance for the first couple of weeks, but we're willing to work through it

Jerry there is the word "of" between short and Cathy...
AZ, I believe that Jared Perry has actually had several months of 40 in a row in his local matches, but thanks for posting the records on them.
259 and 'BC the former BB' good luck on your trials of sponsorship...keep watching for Ms Kitty and her team of Kittys to support her on TV

Re: perfect scores
Mary is correct, Jared Perry shot 3 perfect matches back to back to back.
Three perfect scores in three months would be awesome, I can only
that I get a 40 someday. My closest to a perfect score was 56 out of 60, almost but no see-gar. I've been witness to Eric Boos almost getting a perferct score but that one damm chicken didn't see it his way.

Re: perfect scores
I've found the easiest way to getting a factory "ride" is to raise a pretty granddaughter that is articulate and can shoot a little....But you can't just raise the granddaughter by yourself...You have to let Innocent Mary (one of the great mentors in the game) have a hand, as well as Cathy (shoots like a girl) , and others that are too numerous to mention have a hand in her shooting education.....And you have to look good behind a spotting scope and accept the fact that you will always be soundly whipped by someone you once changed diapers on...
