Buttplates must be centered

Can someone expand on this rule, please ?

Scenario:
My frame (6' 4") ideally requires an adjustable buttplate, such that the buttplate is a good 1-1/2 to 2" below the top line of a normal stock. And perhaps a bit of cant. Is this then legal ?

even then I could still use a cheekpad to get the rest of the way into the cheekbone.

I need to also mention, I may have an chance to get a Rem 540XR (single shot) for a fair price. wondering if its stock design is allowed.
I am guessing that it forearm dimensions my be too large.

Sorry - stocks must be straight and with adjustable parts. Those of us that need additional LOP fit spacers to make up the difference. PIA

When I have my cz shouldered, only about 1/2 inch or so of the Toe is in my shoulder.

as long as the butt plate is "centered" on the stock, the drop at the heel can be whatever it needs to be though? , fixed non adjustable, such as adding fixed spacers with a drop.

Yes, it was those rules I read

I have two situations, one is making my cz stock fit, for hunter class. And the other would be buying a fellows rem 540XR, but looks like it wont qualify with its adjustable stock, for the standard class.

Did you read the rules ? It clearly states:

The toe of the stock including buttplate or recoil pad shall be no more than 7 inches below the centerline of the bore. Buttplate or recoil pad may not extend below the lower line of the stock.

btw, I just got back from a freinds house. He has loaned for a day at the range, a 540xr. I am pretty certain I will buy it from him. need to pull the stock, weigh the barreled action, and check weights on aftermarket stocks.
This sport is really feeding a need I did not know I had

The 540x was manufacture with two different types of stocks, the older version had a more conventional straight stock with rounded corners around the forearm, this stock is legal. The newer versions have a square, and thicker stock, where the area around the trigger guard, and hand stop rail is deeper than the 2 1/4" required by the rules. I removed about 1/2" off the bottom of mine to make it legal.
As far as the adjustable butt pad, once you set it at the required lenght, you can glue in two pieces of 1" PVC pipe in the open space, which will render it unadjustable ( considered fixed ) which will make it legal. I used one like that for several years with no problems.

By the way, I forgot to mention that the 540 action is supposed to have the fastest lock time of any bolt action smallbore rifles.

I have read that as well

Went to the range today, to check out the 540xr. Windy. Cold. Popped a 4x awful-super-thick-reticle bushnell scope on it.
reasonable results with wolf ammo. Took the CZ too, so I could have a "reference" with the wind gusts.

If it never went to the steel chicken range, its a neat .22 to own. even if just for some occasional bench and squirrel.
after all, no point in pretending I need anything better than that cz, after just one time of stalking the steel.
