Sighter Shots?
I noticed on Jerry Webster's site what looks to be a swinging target on the end of the bank.

Do you get sighter or practice shots during the event, or is it like a LEG match where you have to know and trust your zeros?
Regards, Ray

Re: Sighter Shots?
At the St Louis Benchrest Club (where we shoot our SB silhouette matches), there are swingers set up before the match during the sight-in period. However, before the start of the actual match, the swingers are taken down.
For a silhouette match, I can't think of a time where it would be possible to shoot any additional "sighters". I wonder if any locations actually allow this.

No sighter shots during the match. Onlt before, and occasionally during a lunch break depending on the range and time.

Re: Sighter Shots?
I was wondering if they had a rule against shooting warm ups while one relay is on the line. Say you are in relay 2 and relay one shoots the whole match before your relay is up with you running down range to reset for relay 1. Is it acceptable to send a few rounds down range so long as your not interfering with the relay shooters to get a quick warm up after sitting 40 minutes or so?
I know this wouldn't work in a relay match that wasn't setup flow style. Anyone know of any rule that wouldn't allow this to be done?
If I have been sitting awhile I try and take a few dry fires after the Ready call to get the hand and eye working together. Leaves me enough of time to get the 5 shots off without rushing.

No shots allowed for sight after the match starts. Only before the match and during the break between the two matches. Been at this for 30+ years and it has always been that way.

No sighter shots allowed once the competition begins but if there are several relays and you ask the match director dry firing is allowed while the match is going as long as you obey the commands for handling rifle. Usually areas or benches at both ends of the range and some times in the middle are used for that purpose. Happens more in HP than SB since in HP most of us do not use dummy rounds to dry fire.
