smallbore rifle in alabama

Post by ntyree »

Hello everyone, i just wanted to let everyone know that my program and books came back from the NRA and we are ready to start the 2010 season soon. Our matches will begin the second saturday of february and continue until october. We allways shoot standard guns first then hunter and shooters will have to set and score their targets. To participate you must be present no later than 8:45 am for a safety meeting. The matches will start promplty at 9am and are usually done well before lunch.

We also encourage new shooters to come out and join us by allowing shooters to shoot a "clinic" match with any safe and operational rifle firing 22lr ammo only. Also shooters may opt to shoot their first match without purchasing an NRA score book, however any shooters not currently classified who do not purchase a book or if shooting a rifle that does not conform to the rules of each class may not win any class regardless of score.

come join us every second saturday morning starting in february at Magic City Gun Club in Pinson AL

any questions call Nick @ 205 789 9486

Do you only shoot the 2nd Sat of the month? We visit Anniston in June or July each year. I figure would be an hour+ drive from there. Perhaps is to hot that time of year and close? Jon

Edit: I did not read enough, I see you do shoot through October. I might just stop by if the timing is good. We then go over to Newnan, GA., for our other stop.

hey folks thanks for the interest. yes we shoot smallbore rifle from feb to october, but only on sat. per month, however, we shoot a couple of different non NRA fun silhouette matches as well as hunter pistol and cowboy leveraction silhouette and black powder on the other saturdays and some sundays, if interested in those schedules let me know.

oh, and pinson is about 12 miles north of I 59/20 off the Tallapoosa St. exit (hwy 79). come join us next month.

thanks, '

That's cool. A friend of mine lives in B'ham. If I can make it up there to visit this year I'll try to drop in on y'all.

Nick,

Are the distances to each berm the same as those at Steel City? I sighted-in at Steel City, not sure if that will work for your club.

shane, the distances are the same except for the pigs, in smallbore standard and hunter class, pigs are at 60 meters. if you go to the silhouette range at steel city where the hunter pistol and harold's fun match are shot, there are two pig lines the one we use for the fun match and one ten meters directly behind it that you can't see the rail on from the firing line since they raised the backstop by one crosstie. you will want to get a zero for that one because there is about a two minute drop on almost every one of my rifles from my 40meter zero to my 60, but very little from 40 to 50. hope to see you at the matches, and if i have royally confused you, just call me, 789 9486

thanks,

nick

Thanks Nick.

I understand what you mean. I was wondering what that berm was for. Hopefully I'll get the chance to go back out and sight-in that distance.
