The Marketplace - Ads by Donation
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This board costs a few bucks to run and generally speaking, I'm happy to provide this at my own expense, but this board has long had the desire to maintain and grow the Silhouette Shooting sports.
The time has come to expand beyond Sponsors and Donors and move into soliciting a VERY SMALL DONATION from Marketplace ads. Considering that some of the items that move on the Marketplace are substantial in value and that the Marketplace is a pretty active place for silhouette shooters and their gear, we have solicited some ideas from the membership and are now off and running.
Donation-based Ads
Donations can be sent to :
Mike Coleman
PO Box 835
Yelm, WA 98597
Suggested Amounts
Suggested donations - money goes toward promoting Silhouette, expanding this website and the sport.
Upon receipt of any ad donation, we will mark your ad as Donation Certified and your prestige among Silhouette shooters will flourish!

Actually, the trophies I've had in mind have always been (no real shock) a steel chicken target, maybe plated or something.
For the beginners, I like trophies for the highest chicken in B, A, AA
For the old-hands, I'm thinking a trophy for lowest chicken in AAA, Master? LOL!!! Maybe paint it blaze-orange and mark it as "the one that got away" ?? HAHA

Hot Dog...where do I register for the lowest chicken match. I'm there for that one... Does crossfiring on your neighbor count as negatives for that trophy?

1% on Marketplace sales sounds fair to me, and maybe just cap it at $10?
I was afraid you were paying the freight on this thing, and knowing the storage surcharges are adding up and ad revenues come slowly it can start to hurt. Doing something on a volunteer basis is one thing, but then paying for the privilege gets old.

I see Go Daddy is your host. Not sure how much you pay for their hosting the site but PM me I have a good friend that hosts out of his house and could probably save you some money. Would need details about the site size etc. I can't see this site taking up to much HD space/bandwidth.
Also they now have a site called gunpal to send money for guns and I think they may kick a % to nra. Maybe look into that for an option.

Over at Benchrest Central Wilbur charges a flat fee of $3.00 per add. I think it would be better if set per item at $5.00 versus add. The higher price should help offset the lower gains from fewer sales when compared to BR Central
Just set the fee and have a mailing address to send the payment. Keep it on the honor system for now. With the current market, it's hard to give stuff away at this point, so I don't see anyone getting rich selling on forums.
I just sold one of my Silhouette stocks to a fellow board member, so I'm game for kicking in the $5.00.

Wow,
From the overwhelming number of responses, I think you may have your answer. I'll still send in my $5. PM me where.

Re: The Marketplace - feedback requested
I tried keeping my mouth shut and PC on this issue but if you insist. MIKE CHARGE PEOPLE A FLAT RATE OF $3.00 TO POST ON THE MARKETPLACE PERIOD END OF DISCUSSION!!!. If the people who so dearly love this wonderful forum and use it on a daily basis wont have or SHOULDNT have a problem with sending you three dollars to post something that more often than not is well over $1,000.00 then theres no problem. If YOU dont want to pay the three dollars put your add in the little nickle or someother forum. If you do have a problem well f you and go sell your shit someplace else. People always want shit for free and then when the plate comes around they act like there deaf dumb and mute. This is as simple as black and white= you want to sell you pay.
P.S. you'll get my five dollars at the next shoot for the KImber thats on the board pending sale.
