That is some pretty nasty cheating. At our local matches, you can basically "shoot what you brung" in both classes. Particularly if you are a newish shooter. We don't want to scare them off.

Local matches are lax, but our group makes a point of checking our rifles before going on the road, and encouraging rookies to do likewise. It emphasizes that there are rules we all have to observe.

Re: restocked 452v
A good shooter can shoot any rifle, more than once I have seen "strange rifles" picked up and shot in a shoot off win. By this I mean the Troy has walked up to the line having put his rilfe away, and just borrowed the first one handed to him...and won. Yes in the long run a well balanced, fitting rifle for a paticular shooter with triggers that they like will help improve the scores but all the little "tweaks" that the cheaters pull usualy do not gain anything for them.
As for your stock...looks nice to me, and if you are happy with it , I do not see that it will gain anything for you in points to have it short in the forward part, shoot it and have fun.

After shooting the game for a long time all I need anymore is a rifle that is close but not on the wire...it sucks to travel a long way not to make rules.

Mical, here on SC? Not me, I'm Innocent.
Malinios, Have you ever made it to a match and not seen someone willing to loan you a rifle? Granted I think the rules are a little ridiculus on some of the measurements, but except for a very few high dollar matches most directors are not going to fret over a short forend like this one.

Byron, I know nothing of short forends, other than the photos in this thread. Mical is making reference to an incident that happened at the Georgia states, and I was told under no uncertain terms was the consequences to appear on SC....I am silent on that paticular incident, but I will tell you I have seen that time of thing happen several times. Kevin Lawton said something about being knowing enough not to try that with his father or some other shooters.

Mary, are you saying that a match director was petty and spiteful?! Payback is a medevac. And there would be a huge satisfaction in borrowing a rifle and beating the jerk. Anger allied with humor makes a powerful force.

It is interesting that most folks at a silhouette match will share anything they have, even if it's inconvenient, while bench-rest shooters have the opposite reputation. Stand by for the harrassment that comes with it, though...malinois wrote:No mary...I have seen no issues borrowing anything at a match..

BB, Let's put it this way,as an older friend of mine once said to my son "never bet on another man's game." And silhouette has a way of being very humiliating. The person that chose to take on my offer of adding some challenge to a shootoff has not ever shot a good trigger.

(1) Entertainment Value
(2) Prepared to lose
Another shooter handed me a 10/22 with a really neat Clark barrel, a box stock trigger and a so-so 3-9 scope, and I surprised myself by popping several chickens in a row! So yes, even a journeyman shooter can pick up a reasonably accurate rifle and shoot decently. But I wouldn't bet you more than I was prepared to lose!
