Winni is fantastic

Post by psteiger »

Perspective. I just got a dose. I participated in the Texas State Long Range match this weekeng. Wow. Absolutely the worst run match I have EVER seen. No organization, no clue, no prep. we paid $75 to enter. We got 8, 3x5 score cards and 2 target faces. Yep, that's it. No food, no competitors meeting, no program, nothing, no welcome to Texas, no beer wagon, NADA. Told squadding was on the line at 7am first day. First shot at 8. Right. First shot at 9ish. Not enough target frames, had to build some. Not enough targets. Where did the money go? They gave out 7 or 8 plaques at the end. I have been truly spoiled by the outstanding matches I have attended with y'all. From the local get togethers to Winni and all in between. Even our Wed nite "practice" is better organized. Thank you for ALL your hard work.

A match like Winnie is a full time, year long job and we're fortunate to have someone (or several someones!) willing and able to put it together! So thanks again Ducky, your work is appreciated.

My points exactly. Running them is a lot of work and responsibility. Thank you Paul, Evelio, Motl, Engle and Gudenburr for running the area matches and doing them So very well. Huge thanks to the guys who run the huge matches. The fact that the work as well as they do, is a testament to their organizational skills, recruiting skills and their dedication. Do we, the shooter, understand ALL the things you do to make them work so well? Nope, but we have a glimmer. And we say THANK YOU for all your work. And No, we don't want Ducky for President, who's gonna help Jerry? Imagine Lime picking the menu, Spotted Dick for dinner on Saturday nite with Bangers and Mash for breakfast and a Ploughmans lunch? I'll pass. Thanks though...... :D

Aw come on PS....we'd pull you over to the dark mexican side and feed you off the El Puma plate. A little rattlesnake and eggs for breakfast never hurt anyone.

Sorry Limy

I'd much rather eat Cajun and Mexican food than English stuff. No way, Ducky, don't defect. The last guy who did that was Arnold somebody.....Scrambled, or Over-easy Arnold......I can't remember. I'm sure Limy knows.

Thanks for all the great and wonderful praise. Jerry and I have really been putting our thinking caps on and have a few really new things for you when you arrive. No BS, just some real nice items. We are currently working on the final version of the special rifles that we will be door prizing per class. We are not sure if we will have .22 LR rifles with mounted scopes or a true hunting caliber rifle with mounted scopes. This decision will be made pending some input from you, the shooters and our committee of two (just kidding! We have several on the committee).

Someone should post another poll asking if we should award .22 LR rimfire rifles, air rifles, or true hunting caliber rifles. The five rifles will have scopes mounted as well as a special lasered logo.

Since this will be the only 20th Anniversary that we will have, we are really putting on the dog!

Can't go wrong with any of those! My preferences run to the .22 and airgun, but there might be other ideas... :-?

How about a Hunting rifle for Hunter class and something else for standard? Or you could do half and half and do pick of the litter, and let those drawn choose their own. Any way you choose will be just fine. Remember I just paid $75 for a 2 day match and got 8, 3x5 cards and 2 paper targets. I now have perspective. Gonna have to think up a very special award for Limy.

Mix the choices and let them pick, except for Steiger, who should get the English spelling bee award.

We will not mix up the rifles as it would be too difficult to make it completely fair in all classes.

We just need to know what type of rifle that the shooters would like to have for the one-time door prize unless everyone wants to keep the entry fees at $180 like this year! Just another thing to think about!

I certainly hope that we are able to fill the match up this year with 240 shooters in each rifle! I hope that Steiger and Limey are ready for some professional BS as I am sure that this year will be a banner year, so bring hip boots!
