10/22 or weatherby xxii??

Post by Steelbuster9 »

I have a 10/22 with a prediter stock volq trigger and a volq carbon fiber barrel and was thinking of changing to a bolt gun. If I did I would probably sell my ruger. I was just wondering if anyone has had experiance with the weatherby xxii. Any info would be greatly appreciated! And also do you think it would be a wise change?

The Weatherby is a fine rifle - you'll hear from more folks when they get back in from Nationals. Definitely go for it.

It's an Aunschutz 64 action in a Weatherby stock that is very well designed and pretty to boot.

The Weatherby is a great rifle. I have one that I used for a while and it shot great. I had it bedded and a little trigger work done on it and it would shoot under an inch at 100m with decent ammo. I upgraded to a Pharr stocked 1712, but if I hadn't the Weatherby would be a fine rifle to keep shooting. Like mentioned above, the barreled action is made by Anschutz but stamped with the Weatherby name and a much nicer stock.

The real difference in a 10/22 and a bolt gun that I have found is that you take your time more with a bolt gun. For the little while I shot a 10/22 I would shoot very fast and not take my time on my shots. When I switched over to a bolt action, I took my time and my scores improved. I'm not saying thats how it is for everyone. If you look at the racks at one of the major matches you won't see many 10/22s. Most people shoot Anschutz, CZs and a good number of Kimbers are still around. There is a reason for that...

What about the cz 452v? I saw one today and it really looked sweet! The trigger was not good but what I've been hearing Timney makes a real good trigger! Any info?
