Bedding CZ452 Results

Post by njjessee »

Okay - thanks to those who responded on my post concerning how to glass bed a CZ452. Ended up pillar bedding with Devcon Steel. Installed a Rifle Basix trigger set to 2.5 lbs. (some creep still to be adjusted out). Went to the range yesterday and I'll post the results below. Like to get your input if you think this rifle should be capable of more. Please keep in mind that these are 10 shot groups (including any flyer) from a bench with sand bags. My hold was not that perfect... I would say it would wobble about .5" @ 100 yds within a 10 shot string. The rifle seemed to prefer CCI Green Tag and Remington Match EPS (made by Eley). Have not tried Wolf. Here we go:

CCI Green Tag 50 yds
group #1----#2-----#3
width 0.6"- 0.5" - 0.6"
height 0.4"- 0.4" - 0.6"

Remington Match EPS 50 yds
group #1----#2----#3
width 0.6"- 0.7"- 0.4"
height 0.4"- 0.7"- 0.8"

CCI Green Tag 100 yds
group #1----#2----#3
width 1.5"- 1.9"- 2.4"
height 2.5"- 1.3"- 2.8"

Remington Match EPS 100 yds
group #1----#2
width 1.4"- 0.8"
height 2.9"- 1.5"

Thoughts?

Not bad! Do what I do - recruit a better bench shooter for the testing and see what results you get. If you don't have hex action bolts, get a pair of those and start playing with the torque.

After you bed the action, make sure there isn't anything else touching the stock. Sometimes the trigger assembly will touch and mess things up. The only thing that touches should be the bedding material. Buy a tube of prussian blue and check out your clearances.

you need to try more ammo and see what happens. Eley Standard (yellow box), Wolf MT, SK STD+ are shooting well for many shooters.
