Remington 511-X

Post by hankhill33 »

Hi guys
I am new to the forum and ,I joined to find out some info on my "new" little rifle.
It is a Remington 511-X,and has an ....A M 31 marked on the left side of the barrel near the receiver
The bluing is at least 90% and the stock is in great shape..the case color on the bolt is also around 90%
Can any one tell me the year and month of production?
It has one of the worst trigger pulls I have ever felt.....Any tricks I should know about?
Thanks for your help

511X. From the information I have your rifle was made in March of 65. production was from 1939 to 1963. According to your date stamp they continued some ,maybe the X, to 1965. The triggers were one of the draw backs of the 510,511, 512 and 513 series. Clean and oil the trigger but don't mess with it (meaning stoning, filing, grinding) unless you have all the spare parts on hand. Even if you have the parts they will have to be hand fit, you can not get new parts and the old parts you buy may be worn out before you start. One thing you will want to look at for the trigger pull. Look in the back of the receiver, You will notice a plunger and spring going from the trigger to the safety, You will want to flush this out real good and oil. If that gets gunked up your trigger pull goes up.
Have fun with you new gun and be safe. Yankee
