Burris Zee Ring Size For 42000 Elite On CZ American
I have a CZ 452 American and wanted to get the Burris Signature Zee rings to mount a 6 x 24 x 40 Elite 4200 scope. Does anyone know what all the parts I need to pull this off?
1. I am unsure if the medium rings will clear the bolt and barrel. Do I need highs? I would rather be a bit high than cutting the lens covers.
2. Will the rings just fit right on or do I have mess with dovetail to weaver adapters? If so ...part numbers?
3. Is there only one offset insert kit? Are there different part #'s?
Thanks

Re: Burris Zee Ring Size For 42000 Elite On CZ American
I'm currently using a 452 Varmint in SB silhouette, with a Bushnell 4200 6x24 scope.
I started out using medium Burris Z rings (PN.420521), no clearance issues, but I was having
neck issues, so I went to the high version(PN.420531), and it's much better.
You should have no clearance issues using either one. The PN. for the ZEE adjustable inserts is PN.626019
I'm also using the CZ factory one piece base(PN.19008), for 11mm dovetails, your American
should have a 3/8" dovetail and should use PN.19007(or 19009). There are many Weaver adapter
options for 3/8", not so many for 11mm.
I also am using a Rifle Basix trigger, better than stock but there are cheaper options out there.
Good luck,Chris

Thanks for the reply. Why wouldn't the Signature "Rimfire rings" 420556 bolt right on without the Weaver base? They come in medium and high. They also use the inserts.
420556: Burris Signature Airgun/Rimfire .22 1 Inch Riflescope High Ring Pair - Matter Black
They don't look quite as sturdy as the Weaver base version.

I had heard that the Rimfire rings did not grip the Varmint rail very well, that's why I went with the adapter and Weaver base rings.
The American supposedley has a slightly different angle on the dovetail allowing you to use the Rimfire rings.
A better place to ask these questions would be Rimfire Central.

I used the Burris high signature rimfire rings on my CZ 452 Varmint with a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x and the a Weaver T24 and shot up into AAA with it before I switched to the Anschutz 1712. They worked just fine on the Varmint rail. Those rings are really heavy, though. I think they were over five ounces for the pair. On a Varmint that's already pushing the weight limit with a heavy scope like the Elite 4200, I had to "skeletonize" them by drilling a big hole from top to bottom and one from front to back on each lower ring half to make weight.

Thanks, How much clearance did you have with the 4200 over the barrel? I heard these rimfire high's are very high compared to others.Jason wrote:I used the Burris high signature rimfire rings on my CZ 452 Varmint with a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x and the a Weaver T24 and shot up into AAA with it before I switched to the Anschutz 1712. I could see weight being a problem with the Varmint. I should still be way under with the American.

With the fairly skinny objective bell on the 4200, I had lots of clearance. With the smaller diameter barrel on the American compared to the Varmint, you should have even more. The rings here look like about 0.810" from the top of the rail on the rifle to the bottom of the scope tube according to the calipers.

Thanks Jason, I am thinking I will probably have around 1/4 inch and that is fine. I just didn't want much more than that.
