Question About Scope Dots & Manufacturers
I have done several searches and read a lot on the scope dot sizes etc. It is still a bit unclear if everyone has these 1/4" to 1/2"" Leupolds and Weavers done by the manufacturers or independent custom shop guys (or both).
What size dots will both these manufacturers make and what are the costs? What kind of cost is associated with getting a larger dot from a custom shop and what are the warranty issues involved?
What seems to be the most popular value to get them done?

Re: Question About Scope Dots & Manufacturers
Leupold lists some scopes with 1/4, 3/8's and 1/2 MOA dots and will install them for $65 (includes return shipping) in most of their scopes. About two years ago (class?) they decided anyone else doing the work voided the lifetime warranty, but scopes modified before then are still covered.
Weaver and Sightron also have target dots but I don't know the actual size.

Lee has a great reputation, but check with your scope manufacturer about their warranty. Some will not honor their warranty after Lee has worked on them and this can be an expensive problem!

Re: Question About Scope Dots & Manufacturers
Thanks guys. It does not sound like there is any quality difference in a dot change so why bother with a custom guy? A lifetime warranty is nothing to sneeze at.
