Alabama smallbore rifle matches

hello everyone,

i am new here at steel chickens, though i have lurked for a year or so and enjoyed all of the information that is available.

I have read through this forum and have seen many advertise their matches here, if it is not the proper venue, please feel free to move to the correct board and let me know so i don't make the same mistake again.


I am now running the smallbore standard and hunting rifle matches at magic city gun club, just north of birmingham, al in the city of pinson, al. As far as i know we are one of a very few if any clubs in north alabama holding regular matches and welcome anyone from this area or anywhere you wish to come from to join us.

the match dates remaining this year are as fallows: 6/13; 7/11; 8/8; 9/12; 10/10 or for easier memory the 2nd saturday of each month through october.All matches are NRA approved 40 shot matches.

The gates will open at 8:00 am cst at the latest, however i am usually there a little earlier. Practice begins as soon as enough people are there to set targets. Safety meeting is at 8:45 sharp and you must be present by then to shoot, First scored shot goes down range at 9:00 cost is 5dollars per match (10dolllars total) and we shoot standard rifle first.
NRA score books must be presented to the scoring desk upon registration, however, in order to expose this discipline to new shooters, we allow 1st time shooters to shoot one match with no book or classification, with the understanding that they cannot win anything regardless of score. For the same reason we allow someone who shows up with a rifle that may not fit both classes to shoot both matches, however, again they may not recieve a prize or be listed as a winner if they are not shooting a legal rifle. Again this is to entice new shooters, after their first match they must purchase a score book before competing again.

hey guys, not trying to pad here, just giving this info a bump to see if we can get some more shooters out, come join us in birmingham, al and also go shoot with gator in TN those guys and gals are fun too!!
