Hi Folks

After shooting A.G. Silhouette I've made the plunge into Rimfire.
Equipment is as follows:
Annie 1712 with McMillian stock
Leupold 6-20 from Chicken George

Questions:
1. Who makes aftermaket magazines for 1712?
2. Anyone using the 1712 in McMillian stock and have they bedded it. Does it help. I'm sure it wont hurt. Just looking for input inc ase I decide to bed the action. Where to and where not to.
3. Sighted in for Chicken what are the come ups for P,Tand Ram? that I should expect to get me in the ball park.

Welcome aboard....
1) For magazines you can use Savage ones from Brownells. The part number for Brownells is 533-400-355 - Brownell lists them for $10.50 plus shipping - you sometimes have to shave (use a drimmel tool or file) a little off the back - compare it with your factory magazine and be sure to check the fit.

2) Bedding always seems to help. I use a Pharr stock which is bedded.

3) Each rifle and ammo is different and depends on a number of thisng, but ball park is Chickens=0, Pigs=2, Turkeys=5 and Rams=8.5

I shot a 1712 in a McMillian for a couple of years, served me real well and it was up until last yearr that I finally surpassed the scores I shot w/ it (don't ask me how this year is going thus far... LOL)

To bed or not.. I saw this - go shoot it, if you are getting MOA or better once you have found the right ammo, might not be needed. If you have the ability to DIY, like you mentioned, why not.

Universal guesstimate - 0-2-5-9 Most times you will be REAL close... (that is the MOA for each animal - not 'come-ups')

Come ups -

Chicken - 0 (scope at 0)
Pig = +2.0 MOA (scope at 2)
Turkey = +3.0 MOA (scope at 5)
Ram = +4 MOA (scope at 9)

Bedding the 1712
My 1712 came with the black McMillin stock. After you tightened the front screw then went to the back screw it would suck up about 1/8 inch when you tightened it up. Bedding this rifle did help. No action I have seen likes to have extra pressure or un even pressure from the screws. It seems like once the screw just starts to tighten up it should get tight within 1/8 turn. Any more than that and you are putting unnecessary pressure on the action. I have used Brownells Steel bed with these rifles and it works great.
The answer is yes bedding will help the anschutz action if it does not sit square and level in the stock. If you tighten either the front or rear screw then go to the other and notice the stock moving up to the action or the action moving down to the stock it is not level and square.
Hope I have not got you to confused. If it sits right in the stock and shoots decent don't mess with it.

I have to agree with Yankee, if the action rocks in the stock while tightening the screws, it will affect the accuracy of the gun. I have seen several 1712 purchased from Champions Choice in a Mc Millan stock, and they were all bedded very well. I also seen some that were just dropped in the Mc Millan stocks, not bedded, and they all rock in the action while tightening the screws. If yours is not bedded, I am pretty sure the action is in a bind.
