More questions on peep sights

Post by JustcallmeMrT »

Hi all!

I'm pretty new to the smallbore game, and shooting sports altogether, so I've been trying to suck up as much info as possible. I have a CZ 452 "Special", with a hogsback stock and 24" barrel. I bought a used Tasco 6-24X scope for cheap, but am already regretting the purchase, as the windage adjustment knob appears to have broken after only a few weeks of use. I don't have the cash to replace the scope with something of suitable quality (not gonna get another cheapie!) and the style of the stock made getting a good cheek weld a pain with the scope, so I plan on buying a nice set of peep sights for it (BRNO match set). My question is for those who have used peeps before, what rear aperture size are you guys commonly using?

I'd like to use this rifle for some informal silhouette fun matches, and also for long range (200 yds) prone. I'm not looking to compete necessarily, just have fun and improve my marksmanship skills. Any suggestions and insight would be great!

I have no way to accurately measure the hole diameter but my best guess is somewhere around 1 mm. If you can find one, a variable diameter eyepiece is the way to go.

The easy way to measure peep open'g is with a drill bit from an index. Once you find the proper fit you can mic it or read the index.
Close only counts with grenades and horseshoes.

Merit adjustable aperture sights (do a google search) is the best of all wolrds. Peel off the eye cup, open it up and you have a great hunting aperture, close it down to a pin prick and you have your target sight. Also "the sight man" in northeast pensylvania has a bunch of used/as new stuff.
