Wolf Target ammo

Post by chuck d »

I got my new rifle to the range yesterday, with a good selection of ammo. Never hearing about Wolf, that was my sacrifice box, used to get zero'ed. That turned out to be the best grouping of the session, followed by Eley target (yellow box). Has anyone used this ammo, is it good? Wolf Target match is the stuff I used.
Thanks

Chuck,
My experience with Wolf target is that it is great grouping at the closer ranges, and fair at 100m. The amount of change in elevation from 77 to 100 is typically 2+ inches more than most other brands, (at least 8 clicks more for that last stretch). So if you have a marginally close limit on your elevation you might want to consider using other brands, or deal with shimming the scope. BTW prices on Wolf target at the gun show here in Orlando yesterday were at $9.50 a box, granted even Eley sport was running $3.95 a box.

Chuck,
SK Jagd and Wolf are made by Lapua. I've had better luck with the SK then with the Wolf. But that said, every rifle seems to like a certain brand, ususally the most expensive, :(( So the only way to find out is doing what your doing and trying the different types in your rifle, two rifles with serial numbers one apart can like totally different ammo..

Like Mary said, the true test is at 100M so look for the best grouping there.

Luckily my rifles like Wolf MT (and its sister, SK Standard Plus). With my poor bench technique and wind skill at 100m, I can't shoot a justifiable difference between it and high dollar brands I've tried. I have put 30rds of Wolf MT into one of the USBR green circles at 100m, good enough for me.

Its important to test the brands you narrow down to at 100m, many will do good at 50yds, but fall apart at 110yds.......
Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!
